It’s been a difficult week in America. Political violence struck again. The temperature of our national discourse rose higher. All of it made heavier by the dark anniversary that falls today.
Moments like this test us. They remind us how fragile the things we build really are: families, businesses, buildings, trust. It is easy to lose faith in times like this.

Today, many young adults feel they face more obstacles than their parents did. And confidence in our institutions has dropped to historic lows.
The unfortunate truth is that it’s always easier to burn down than it is to build up. Which is why we must commit, again, to the harder path: building.

A culture without belief in building for the future becomes reckless with the present.
Ownership is the antidote to this. When you own something, you’re invested in tomorrow because you literally own a piece of it. When you have skin in the game, you have a stake in the future.
The owners of a…
…aren’t plotting chaos. They’re working to make payroll, lend equipment, train employees, build relationships, or fix a roof. They’re too busy building to destroy.
Reasonable people know this. Perhaps it’s why small business is the most unifying force in our country.

To build is to give more than you take. Every brick laid, every job created, every customer served creates value that didn’t exist before.
When a new builder steps up, the effects run deep.
The lessons a child absorbs from watching a parent wrestle with hard work, resilience, problem-solving, and responsibility will positively guide how they approach their lives decades later.

That’s why we believe ownership is more than wealth-building. It’s nation-building. This compounding effect is what makes small business ownership not just a financial strategy but a national strategy.

Builders strengthen the foundations that our freedoms rest on. Every business opened, every tool developed, every community strengthened, every job created is an act of national defense, a reinforcement of the scaffolding that keeps our liberties standing.
Our mission at Contrarian Thinking is to put power into the hands of those who choose to build. To give them the tools, capital, and community to own. This week’s events remind us what’s at stake.
The test in front of us is simple: will we resign our nation to tearing down, or will we double down on building up?

History will not honor the arsonists. It will honor the architects.
Who will you be?
